We have a special episode for you this week, which is a Squiggly Career story that I recorded with David Pearl back in January. David is the founder of Street Wisdom and the author of a book called Wonderful. And it was a brilliant conversation and

something a bit different. So David talks about getting inspiration from the streets and the world

around us. So we went for a walk and you will hear the kind of sights and sounds of London in the

background as I talked to David. And it was such a brilliant conversation with so many nuggets of

inspiration and wisdom, both from listening to David telling his own personal story of his career

so far, but also advice and kind of actions that we can all take for our kind of day-to-day work,

that we just wanted to have it as a kind of standalone extra episode.

So I hope you really enjoy it and I kick off with asking David three questions about his career so far. So here you go. When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

A conductor. Okay. One word to describe your career so far.

Out of 10, how squiggly do you think your career has been?

Pretty squiggly. I'm coming in with a seven, I think.

I actually thought you might go higher after my research.

Yeah, it's pretty squiggly, yeah. One person who's really inspired you in your career?

Charles Handy.

I've just written this book and in it, she describes herself as an optimist who worries a lot.

I know, I wrote that quote down. I loved that.
