Okay, so let's explain their reasoning.

So like that initial reasoning, I think is the more honest version.

The basically we are trying really hard to enforce a super old school, super patriarchal,

very anti-LGBT idea of Christianity and we want to impose that on the rest of the nation

in the world.

Impathy is making it really hard for us to do that and so you hear the arguments that I

just laid out.

What I'm about to read is the much more, I think, sinister because of its cleverness of

how they try to slip in the idea of doing away with empathy but framing it in very unobjectionably

good ways.

So a different critic of empathy says, by elevating empathy over compassion as the superior virtue,

there is now an entire culture devoted to the total immersion of empathy, books, articles

and social media all trumpet the importance of checking one's own beliefs, values, judgments

and reasons at the door of empathy.

And quote, which I think is a dog whistle, I think that sentence is a dog whistle that

if you empathize with others, you may find out that your beliefs are wrong is like, oh,

don't go there because the one thing I know as either a conservative or a Christian or

whatever is that my ideology is correct, reality be damned.
