Welcome to a special episode of the Jesus Calling Podcast. As the world mourns after another

school shooting, parents and children are navigating how to deal with the fear and trauma that

follows these tragedies. Our guest is Christian musician Kade Thompson. In high school, Kade dealt

with the fear and trepidation that many students deal with, wondering if they'll be safe at school.

He shares his experience and how that inspired him to write a song to encourage others who

are dealing with the fear, anxiety, and pain. These events can cause in their lives.

My name is Kade Thompson and I am a Christian recording artist based out of Franklin, Tennessee.

For as long as I can remember, I always loved music. I was in the preschool and my preschool

teacher told my parents. She said, hey, I don't know if you know this. This is really not that normal

for this age, but he can already sing harmony. You might want to put him in some piano lessons,

but I was five years old. I started playing piano. I didn't really like practicing to be honest.

I just loved playing and so when I was nine years old, I switched to playing acoustic guitar

and that is really when it all began to take off from me. I love for music.

I was a senior in high school. This was 2018 in the fall and I was going into my high school,

just like any other high school student would that day walk into school and accept this day was

a little bit different. We had a school shooting threat at my school. Students were leaving the

building and some students were calling their parents and fear and wondering what is happening.

The threat ended up not being credible, but the fear I felt felt so real in that moment.

And school shooting had been one of my biggest fears growing up and I didn't really understand
