In any case, what we're looking to do is augment some of the baseball coverage here at 985 of the sports, during the course of this baseball season.

Obviously, the baseball hour is a big part of that beginning on March 25th at 6 p.m.

And we'll go for the rest of the season with the team as well.

But there were a couple of big stories in camp, or primary stories in camp,

at least as far as I'm concerned, with the Red Sox this year that I want to get to.

One is Marcelo Meyer and the fact that Alex Cora has now officially named him to the big league roster.

He should get the majority of playing time at second base this year.

I am a little reluctant at the moment to call him the starter for this reason and this reason only.

The Red Sox are going to see two left-handed pitchers in the first two games of the year.

And Meyer is not going to start against either one, or at least I'm presuming,

he will not start against either one because Cora has indicated that Meyer will sit

against left-handed

pitching. You could see him in games as a defensive replacement and pinch runner in those

cases. But he is going to, I'm assuming the bats at the beginning of the year are going to go

to Monasterio, whom the Red Sox acquired into trade with the Brewers. So you're likely to see him on opening day.

But let's stick with Meyer because early in camp,

if there was anyone who had their balls broken this spring in Red Sox camp,

it was Marcel O'Meyer.

Alex Cora made that clear from the very beginning.

So let's rewind here a bit.
