Summary

Anyone else feel like in the midst of all this family time you’re doing great one moment, and then a few minutes later, you’re completely off your parenting game? Me too.

I think the hardest part for me comes when I allow myself to go down the road of “how long” and “how big of an impact” these times will have. Whatever you are working through these days, please know you’re not alone; we are right here with you. If we can pray for your family, please send us an email (prayer@pardonthemess.org) so our team can join you in prayer.

Also, I will be hosting Instagram live sessions (scary, I know) at 9 p.m. central each week with surprise guests speaking to finding God in the midst of uncertainties. For many of us, the hours before we go to bed are when the doubt creeps in, so we’re going to speak truth into the darkness and hopefully have some fun while doing it!

Please take a minute to follow @Pardonthemesspodcast on Instagram to know when we’re live and receive encouragement each day. If nothing else, you will see plenty of examples of my #parentingfails in this new age of togetherness.

Finally, don’t miss today’s podcast as we pray salvation over our families with Jerica Olson. There’s no better opportunity to shine light than in times of darkness. Jerica provides encouragement on praying that our families know Jesus and share him with everyone around us. Don’t miss it.

 Praying for you!

Hey guys, this is Cynthia Yanov with Pardon the Mess. I'm so glad that you're with us as we're praying through the school year for our kids this year.

0:11.5

We are praying salvation this week. Another great topic to pray in these days. And our verse is Romans 10 to 9. If you declare with your mouth, Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that

0:21.5

God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. And so as we pray probably the most significant

0:27.4

thing that we will ever pray over our kids, I am happy to have my friend Jerica Olson with us today.

0:32.8

Hey, Jericho. Hi. How are you? I'm good. How are you? Well, I'm good. This is your first time to be on a podcast with me. I'm so thrilled to have you.

0:42.4

Thank you for having me. I'm excited to be here. Well, this is fun. Jerrick and I met each other through a mutual friend and we have had some good laughs. She will tell us a little bit real quick.

Somebody knows before we kick it off on your life and your

0:54.4

your kiddos. Yeah. So I've been married to my husband Eric for almost 15 years now. And we

1:02.0

have two boys, Jackson and Jacob. They are 10 and 12. So I've been joking with a few of my friends

1:07.8

that sent in candles are kind of a gift to me right now. I know

1:11.3

that's lighthearted for these times. Yes. I can do that here. Absolutely. Yeah. So really,

1:18.5

I just like to introduce myself in a very simple way. I'm a new creation. I'm a minister of

1:23.4

reconciliation and most of the time that plays out in my home with my husband with my sons.

1:30.1

But outside of my home, I get to do some really cool things, one of them being chaplain work

1:35.2

at Dallas County Jail. So I get to minister to women down there. I also teach an overcoming trauma

1:41.7

class to those women. And so it's a really cool way to get to serve and administer to women that has provided me a lot of perspective, especially during this time.

1:52.9

Yeah, for sure.

1:54.1

And so as you do that work at the jail, I'm assuming when you're, I'm not assuming I know this, but when you're in jail, this is not

2:00.9

the easiest time in your life. Obviously, things are not going how one would hope ideally.

2:06.7

I would assume people are more open to the gift of salvation, to understanding God. And I just

2:12.1

wonder like having you speaking on a level to people that incarcerated versus speaking just out in the public,

2:20.1

the need for Jesus and probably the openness is so much more significant when you go to the jail?
