Hey guys, Cynthia, welcome to pardon the mess.

I'm glad you're with us today.

We are praying that our kids are marked by refinement this

week. And that may seem like a strange thing to pray of your kids that they are marked by refinement.

But let's dig in a little bit here and see what scripture says about it. We start with our verse,

1 Peter 1, 6 through 7. It says, in all this you greatly rejoice. Though now for a little while you may have had to suffer

grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith

of greater worth than gold which perishes, even though refined by fire, may result in praise,

glory, and honor when Christ Jesus is revealed. And so the process of refinement talks about removing

impurities. And we are going to talk specifically about refinement looks like. But this reminds me when

we talk about removing impurities, it reminds me of something we always do in Colorado, when my family

goes in the summer. And I'm going to first tell you a random Colorado story that has nothing

to do with anything, but let's have a little laugh on a Monday morning and then we'll talk about

the rest of this. But my family, a couple of summers ago when we were in Colorado, we were in

Breckenridge. And if you've been to Breckenridge, Colorado, it's a cute little small mountain town.

And it has this little roundabout on one side of the town. And, you know, it's a

sleepy little town, but that roundabout gets a little bit of traffic. And so we had gone to the grocery

store. We just got into Colorado and we, you know, had our car. We drove this time. Our car was

packed with all of our stuff. And then we'd stopped and got some groceries. And my husband got a work call that was kind of important. So he was on the phone

and we had crammed all our groceries in and as we're driving out of the grocery store parking lot,
