Hey guys, welcome to pardon the mess.

And we are praying this week that our kids are marked by fruit.

And so our verses come out of

Galatians 5. And 522 through 23 gives us the fruit of the spirit. It says the fruit of the spirit is love,

joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

And I was thinking out this before I started recording, I was thinking, what am I actually going to add to this discussion?

Because I think the fruit of the spirit is kind of obvious what they are.

I think a lot of us have heard a lot about it over the years.

But I think what is important to point out is these are things that the Holy Spirit

produces within us and our kids.

And so when you look at this list, it's easy to say, oh my gosh,

if I try to measure myself up next to this love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, like, there's no

way I can do all of these well. But that's the beauty of it is that we have freedom. And that's what

Paul's talking about. There's freedom. Don't go into slavery. Don't go into a place of bondage because you're living out of the

flesh, but we're living in freedom. And then the Holy Spirit is able to do this through us.

And so, Paul is really great about telling us in the verses before what is not the fruit to the

spirit and what it looks like when we're living out of our own flesh.

And he calls it what it is.

He goes through this list of a litany of things that kind of show when you're living for yourself, you're living out of your own flesh.

And he says in verses 19 through 21, the acts of flesh are obvious.
