I had an interesting experience yesterday with a friend.

Now this is the guy I know from aviation.

He's a pilot, but he grew up in West Texas and he grew up

shooting a bit, hunting a bit, but he's not really a gun guy. And we were

talking airplanes, we were hanging around, he was starting to ask me about guns,

he says, I think I may want to look into getting a concealed carry permit.

I said, well, that's something we can talk about, started in on it.

And in the process, and we worked through a lot of things and he really didn't know much and I'm going to take it out shooting and show him a few things.

But he made a statement that was interesting.

And it got me to thinking.

He said, you know, OK, we've talked about that,

but there's something else I want to ask you about.

He says, tell me about assault rifles.

He says, because you know, that's the one thing he says I just

don't see why anybody needs an assault rifle. Now this is a guy who's very good

about you know understands that people have guns, life guns, owns guns,

wants to get a self-defense gun, but he doesn't understand why people need an assault rifle. Well, tell you what in 30 seconds I'll tell you what I

said to him and now that I think about it I think maybe I could have done it better

so we'll talk about that.
