As I record this it's been only a few hours since President Obama's executive actions have been published on the web and actually there's one document on White House.

And then there's another one that's ATF regulations, two different things.

But they cover a fair amount of ground.

I sent out a number of tweets on it

as I was trying to sort all this out.

And frankly, some of it I didn't understand

and had to correct some tweets because it was all happening very quickly.

Probably today as I speak to you, Obama will be making some comments, some statements about this.

Very interesting, much anticipated. And of course, President

Obama made a promise to the gun ban industry, to the gun control people, to Sarah Brady before she died to Michael Bloomberg of course

to Gabby Giffords all the regular players in the gun control world saying he was going to get gun control

passed he's going to get this stuff done and each time he failed he turned around

and said yeah but I'm going to keep working on it.

And before the last election, his re-election, he said, just be patient because after the election,

I'll have more flexibility.

I'll be able to do what I want to do. In other words I won't

have to actually go to Congress I won't have to listen to the will of the people. Well he did take

action and what's interesting is the reaction on the part of gun owners.

And so what I did, because I get by with the help of my friends, as we all do, I call two of the keenest observers of this. Alan Gottlieb and

Jean Hoffman and said, okay, what do you think? The reactions were in some ways the same, but in some ways very different.

And frankly, I was a little surprised when Gene Hoffman said,

actually, this is a gift.
