podcast of Gun Talk, and just a few things I wanted to throw out there. I'm digging into the vault here.

I pulled out an older column. This one I wrote for Guns and Ammo and Hunting Magazines 15 years ago.

This was for the July 2000 editions of those magazines.

It was a column I wrote called Gresham on guns and I kind of

bounced around had several different subjects in each one. It's interesting to got to look back to see what we were talking

about. Some things are different. Some things are exactly the same. Hope you

enjoy this one.

Sell or don't sell.

Hang around shooters and hunters enough, and you'll acquire a number of guns.

In the process you will buy some, trade some, and sell some.

You also will make some mistakes, and I've made my share. In most cases I think we know

when we're making a mistake but we do it anyway and I can't understand why.

For instance, in the late 1970s,

I worked for the NRA when the headquarters

was at 1600 Rhode Island Avenue, only six blocks from the White House.

A combination of three years in D.C. more than anyone should have to endure.

And the usual strange goings on at the publications division prompted me to look for a change.

Alaska beckoned, and I took the post as editor of Alaska magazine.

The problem was that I had a contract with the NRA and I needed to buy my way out of it.
