Well, I watched him come out of Downing Street with Sam.

You know, I think we all knew this was it. It was the end.

I was tearful because it was the end of a big era.

In 100 years' time, school kids won't even know who he is.

He'll be about as well remembered as Boa Law or Lord Sultzbury.

He did change the Conservative Party to a much more centrist party

which became capable once more of winning elections.

David Cameron seems a distant figure now as recent former Prime Ministers often do.

In 2015, he won an election against expectations and a year or so later,

he wasn't even in the comments.

Politics moves brutally fast.

And yet this was the Prime Minister that oversaw some of the most dramatic and seismic events in modern British history.

The EU referendum, of course, but also the Scottish independence referendum,

leading a rare peacetime coalition, steering the UK in the aftermath of a massive financial crash.
