Hey everyone, it's Tristan Harris, and I'm Aza Rask, and welcome everyone to your undivided attention.

And today in the show, we're going to be bringing you a recent conversation that we had with Oprah Winfrey on the Oprah podcast.

This is a special event in which Oprah actually had 150 people sit and watch the AI doc in a New York City theater a couple weeks before it launched.

And then we did a live audience studio taping of basically kind of a talk show format where we walk through the various issues that are presented in the film as they hit regular people.

So you know, one of the interesting tensions that we have to navigate Tristan

is that our eyes are trained on the asteroid coming to Earth,

that the probable path is like very anti-human.

You know, there's going to be mass psychological harms, there can be mass surveillance,

and at the same time, there are very

real world effects that are hitting right now, like notification apps in U.S. high schools and

entry-level jobs starting to be cut. And normally media wants to cover the things that are

happening right now because that connects with people and their felt sense.

And this astroa that's coming, it's too big to conceptualize their own hold.

And so people just don't want to look at it.

And that's why it feels like we're living, that film, don't look up.

Yeah, it's like there's the way people use AI right now and the benefit that they get, which is totally real.

But it's a completely

different conversation of, you know, this weird invasive species of a smarter than human

intelligence that is already better than us at cyber hacking and already better than us at

solving unsolved human math problems. And because we can't really connect those two conversations,

it often feels

like things that are moving past each other, that the conversation that regular people have
