Here we have an episode from another podcast in the recount family, just something about her hosted by Jennifer Paul Mary,

a dear friend of mine and one of my co hosts on my showtime series, The Circus,

also one of the smartest, savviest, funniest, most generous and genuine human beings on the planet or at least on the planet that I have come across.

Jen Paul Mary spent more than two decades as a big time political and communication strategist serving as communications director for Barack Obama's White House and Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign in 2016.

Just something about her was born from Jen's experiences working for Hillary.

When she kept hearing people say, I don't know, there's just something I don't like about her or something I don't trust about her or just something about her.

Full stop.

Over and over and over again.

Eventually Jen came to the realization that there's just something about her really meant there's just something about women in power that still makes a lot of us uncomfortable.

And so with her podcast, Jen is flipping that script interviewing women who made it to the top of their fields on their own terms.

But I especially wanted Helen Highwater fans to hear this episode with another one of my pals, Meika Brzezinski,

a co-host of MSNBC's Morning Joe where I start all too many of my mornings.

Aside from being the primary driver of Morning Joe's incredible success over the years, as her co-host Joe Scarborough would be the first to acknowledge,

Meika is also the author of four best-selling books in the founder of Know Your Value, a movement in partnership with NBC Universal that encourages and helps enable women to recognize their worth and insist on getting paid accordingly.

Recently, Know Your Value partnered with Forbes to create the first 50 over 50 list because Meika wanted to honor women who started killing it later in life, as well as those who made a comeback.

That list comes out next month in June 2021 and Meika and Jen discussed the list, Know Your Value and More on the podcast.

Meika gets into some of the behind-the-scenes details of her own Know Your Value moment.

When she realized she wasn't getting paid as much as the boys on Morning Joe,

she has some great advice on the do's and don'ts of conducting a successful negotiation based on her own mistakes,

then she and Jen also reflect on the setbacks women have faced during this pandemic, and what's needed to help them bounce back in the workforce.
