It's Annie here and I'm just introducing a wonderful wee bonus episode.

Jenny and myself interviewed author Jennifer Morag Henderson, who's just released her new book,

Daughters of the North. This is a historical biography telling the story of Jean Gordon,

who was from the far north of Scotland and lived from 1546 to 1629. So it's a really intriguing time period because it's covering the reign of Mary

Queen of Scots, James the 6th and into the beginning of the rule of Charles I. It was an interview

that I really, really enjoyed and I hope you do too because we were looking at lovely intricate and

quite personal details of early modern history as well as some events that had big

political and economic swings just a quick content warning that this episode

does contain some sensitive material, so some

listeners may want to skip this one. There's discussion of murder, death, and there's a mention

of a rape, so listener discretion is advised. However, though some of this history is really challenging, I really hope that listeners can hear

how much I was absolutely involved with talking to Jennifer.
