This is a special bonus for the episode Sugar Hill. As part of that

episode, I spoke to director Paul Maslansky. Sugar Hill was actually his sole effort directing. For the most part,

he was a producer. And I spoke to him about his job producing how he got into the field and some of the

highlights such as, well, I didn't talk to him about cop and a half,

unfortunately, or scavenger hunt, but I did talk to him about Damnation Alley and Race with the Devil,

as well as a few other titles. You might know him best for the work that he's done on the

Police Academy films, which we will hopefully have another Police Academy coming out here very soon.

My biography is an easy one.

Born in New York, educated public schools in New York, American public schools, not like English public

schools.

Then went to Washington Lee University in Virginia, where I spent four wonderful years.

And then from there, went in the Army for a couple of years, wound up a tank driver at Fort Knox and Fort Benning,

and then wound up actually after two years running the Drum and Bugle Corps at Fort Benning Infantry Center,

because I was a trumpet player and played jazz and still do to this day.

After the service, I didn't know what the hell to do.

I had the GI Bill, so I went to Kansas City, Missouri where my folks had moved.

And I had a day job as a cab driver, and at night I went to Kansas City University to take a

master's in history because I wanted to get into a good law school and my grades in college
