So I was a student at UC Berkeley and I was in my freshman year trying to figure out what I

wanted to do with my life, as many 18 and 19 year olds are at the time. My brother was going

to school at Antioch College in Ohio, which had a really robust

work study program.

And he also wanted to work on movies as well.

And he had spent a summer working summer, but one of the semesters working on Andromeda Strain.

And he said to me once, you know, we were talking, he said, why

you make a movie? And so he sent me his little eight-millimeter bolex camera. And in spring

semester of my freshman year, I made a short film with some other kids in a physics for non-majors

class at Cal called Mr. Physics Meets the Frisbee.

And it was just a little comedy about some, you know, some obscure physics PhD doctorate
