Hey friends, welcome to another episode of Digging Deeper. It is Inauguration Day,

2021, and a whole lot has happened over the last four years.

And I want to just take a little bit of time here

after I've pondered this for months, literally,

to encourage us in a direction that I feel we as believers in Jesus Christ need to go.

I want to call us back to what I believe the Bible shows to be, the right perspective for Christ followers to have in any scenario,

especially political ones, especially ones where governmental authorities are

involved,

especially ones where the culture as a whole is divided.

What are those things?

Well, number one, as believers in Jesus, we must recognize that Jesus is who we follow, not any politician or earthly leader.

Colossus 118 says, He, Jesus, is the beginning. The first born from the dead that in everything

he might be preeminent. I think it's so easy to slide down that slippery slope of support of a platform,

support of a person that we get our eyes off of our true king, our true master,

Jesus.

So that's number one.

We must recognize that Jesus is who we follow,

not any political, earthly leader.

Secondly, our real citizenship is not of this world. No party or nationality should receive our

allegiance ever. To give that kind of allegiance is an act of idolatry, plain and simple.

Philippians chapter 3 versus plain and simple.
