Today we're taking another trip to the movies by way of radio as

the Lux Radio Theater presents Here Comes Mr. Jordan. The classic 1941 comedy fantasy film starred Robert Montgomery

as an up-and-coming boxer named Joe Pendleton. Joe's Date in the Ring with the reigning champ gets derailed after an overly

efficient angel takes Joe to heaven about 50 years too soon. With the help of Senior Angel Mr Jordan, played wonderfully by

Claude Rains, Joe returns to Earth in the body of a crooked millionaire. It's a story that's been remade several times for the big screen,

with Warren Beatty and Heaven Can Wait, and in Down to Earth with Chris Rock, but the original remains a classic.

The Lux Radio Theater presented its version of Here Comes Mr. Jordan on CBS on January 26,

1942.

Claude Rains was back as Mr. Jordan,

along with big screen cast members Evelyn Keys

is the girl who wins Joe's heart

and James Gleason is Joe's fight manager.

Robert Montgomery didn't appear but Carrie Grant was on hand as Joe Pendleton.

Rounding out the cast is Howard McNear as the errand angel whose mix-up sets the whole thing in motion.
