| 0:40.1 | I founded a nonprofit called MS MS Run the U.S. |
| 0:42.9 | My mom was diagnosed with MS before I was born, |
| 0:46.1 | and this idea dropped into my mind when I was 24. |
| 0:48.0 | I had never run a marathon before. |
| 0:49.2 | I had not raised any money, |
| 0:52.2 | but MS completely wrecked my childhood. |
| 0:54.1 | And so I thought to rectify that, I would run from San |
| 0:55.1 | Francisco to New York to try and raise half a million dollars. This was in 2010. I ran 24 miles a |
| 1:01.5 | day, six days a week for six months. And I got to New York, and I'd only raised $56,000. So everybody |
| 1:07.7 | was celebrating me and so excited, but I didn't make the impact that I wanted. |
| 1:12.1 | So I created America's longest relay run. |
| 1:14.3 | We run across America every year from Santa Monica to New York. |
| 1:18.3 | I put together a team of 21 runners. |
