Summary

BONUS MOTHER'S DAY EPISODE: God gave this obvious motherhood instruction: love your children. Why did God have to tell us to do something that should have been automatic? Is it possible that we would have missed the obvious in the midst of a culture that is so focused on image and outcomes that it forgets about people? Or is it more personal? Do we love our children fully, or only when we're pleased with them. This bonus episode is a brief glimpse at the instruction in Titus 2:4: "That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children..." (emphasis added). Clearly, God saw a need to put this instruction in Scripture for reasons unknown, but we can guess that in part, He knew that we'd need to be reminded! Consider this a five-minute Mother's Day card, given with love from a sister friend in the motherhood journey right along with you.  Teachers of Good Things Maestras del Bien (Teachers of Good Things-Spanish) Pink & Brown Compact KJV Bible Rose Gold Personal Size KJV Bible Bible-Mic-Sister Friend FOLLOW Keep the Heart on Instagram LIKE Keep the Heart on Facebook FOLLOW Francie on Facebook

Welcome to this special bonus episode on Keep the Heart for Mother's Day.

There's a passage of scripture that gives us what I like to call an eight-point job description,

0:09.8

and it's found in Titus chapter 2, verses 3 through 5, but I'm only going to focus on verse 4 today

0:15.7

because it has an unusual instruction in it that's very obvious.

0:20.3

In fact, it's so obvious I wonder why God

0:23.0

had to even put it there. Why did we have to be told to do something that should come naturally to us?

Thank you for joining Keep the Heart for today's podcast with Francie Taylor. Francie is an author,

conference speaker, and teacher. She is passionate about teaching what to do with what we learn

0:46.4

from God's Word. Now back to today's valuable study. If you're not familiar with Titus Chapter 2 verses 3 through 5, I encourage you to go back

0:58.9

and look at that passage of scripture. I also wrote about it in detail in the book,

1:03.4

Teachers of Good Things, and that's available in the shop at Keep the Heart.

Titus chapter 2, verse 4, has three instructions, that they may teach the young women

1:13.5

to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children. Verse 4 is the beginning of the list

1:20.5

of eight items. The first thing in the list is teaching the women to be sober, which is sound-minded,

1:26.8

and then it goes directly to the husbands,

1:28.9

to love their husbands. That's an obvious instruction. You would think we wouldn't need to be told

1:33.9

that. But then think about your relationship if you're a married lady. Have there ever been any

1:38.7

times when you didn't feel very lovable towards your husband or you felt like he was not a

1:43.5

lovable person? You'll understand then why

1:46.2

God had to remind us to love our husbands because there are times when neither one of us is very

1:52.2

lovable. But to love their children, why did we have to be instructed to teach young women

1:58.9

to love their children? Because God knew that there would be times
