the side door-sized hole in your heart.

It's a show called Detours from our friends at

G. B. H. and PRX. This podcast tells the story behind the PBS classic

Antiques Road Show, but I can tell you you don't need to have seen the show to enjoy this

podcast. Detours is a bit like Side Door and that it's a show about objects with

history. Host Adam Monaghan guides listeners through the past as he tells the story of where an object has been.

There are always surprising twists as they uncover thefts, frauds, family lore, and have the occasional

encounter with the FBI.

Which brings us to this episode, which we particularly enjoyed.

It's about a rare de-gara type,

kind of an early photograph of Edgar Allan Poe

that showed up one day at an antique shop in Iowa.

This episode even features a quick Smithsonian cameo.
