Steve, how's summer been? What's summer like for an international manager?

Pretty quiet from being honest. Obviously, we had the two friendlies in June. One good result, one not so good.

And then it's a little bit of downtime spend time with the grandchildren

I managed a week in Portugal for a for a bit of sun although we've had a fantastic summer here as well

which has been great and then as the season kicks in you start to pick up on the matches who's fit

who's not fit who you think you might select And the madness starts again at the start of September.

And keeping an eye on people who are moving around as well,

does that make a difference in terms of your selection,

maybe not in a big way, but does it sometimes have an influence

if a player is going to be getting more minutes, for example, somewhere else?

Well, there's one or two that are obviously thinking about a move or Goni move or the club

want them out. Ben Doak for one is an example, just left Liverpool to go to Bournemouth.

So hopefully he'll get a few more minutes when he gets down to the south coast.

And you're looking at one or two others. Grant Hanley was looking for a club.

He's managed to get back to Scotland playing at Hiberlin.

So yeah, it's a little bit more unpredictable

in terms of stability of the squad working into the international break.

And then it's coming up now to the campaign,

which is, you know, to try and get to the next World Cup.

So it's all starting to kick in now, but 27 years since Scotland have qualified for a World Cup.
