Summary

A bonus episode! And a personal one at that. Back in February I directed a music video for Radnor & Lee, the folk duo created by artists Josh Radnor and Ben Lee. Today we discuss using their platforms to take a stance on the ongoing social injustices (3:20), the process of making their latest record, Golden State (11:00), finding a balance within each other (23:00), living a life full of passion (31:09), the expectations between creators and consumers (40:02), and why their working relationship works (43:38).

Pushkin Hey everyone welcome to the show. I'm San Francisco and this is Talk Easy. Today we're

0:28.8

releasing a bonus episode that I wanted to share with everyone. It's a conversation with musicians Ben Lee and Josh Radner.

0:37.0

Together they make up Radner and Lee, a folk duo making music here in LA. They actually have a new album that just dropped

0:46.6

called Golden State through Flower Moon Records. If you're interested you can find that new piece of

0:52.3

music wherever you do you're listening.

0:55.5

I know it's on Spotify. I know it's on iTunes. Is it still called iTunes?

1:00.7

Did they change the name? It doesn't matter. It's on the thing with the apple.

1:04.8

And to give a brief backstory, earlier this year I had the pleasure and privilege of

1:12.4

directing a music video for this album.

1:16.0

The video is called Simple Harmony based on one of their singles off this record, Golden

1:21.7

State. And my God, looking at the video now. It's something

1:29.5

we get into in this episode you're about to hear, but for those of you who haven't seen the

1:33.9

video it really does feel like a time capsule a relic from a bygone era and as much as I enjoyed making the video,

1:47.7

editing the video, finishing the video, I can't help but get a little sentimental and nostalgic about that moment in time.

1:57.0

And granted, it's not like it was so long ago, it was in February, at the end of February, which just happens to feel like a lifetime

2:07.8

ago right now.

2:10.0

So this is a conversation between Ben Lee, who's been working as a musician for over two decades,

2:17.0

and Josh Radner, who you probably know primarily through his acting work. They are beyond any label that people want to put on them.

2:26.7

They're just artists and good ones at that. So it was a joy doing this little bonus episode with them.

2:33.7

If you haven't seen the music video, it's on YouTube right now.

2:37.2

It will also be in our show notes on the Talk Easy website

2:41.0

at Talk EasyPOT.com. I hope you're having a good week and I hope you
