And following the feedback from the episode with Dr. Radha Modgill last month, I thought I'd reach out to a few other people.

Like I said, the other week, it's tricky to find guests that everybody will want to hear from,

because there's quite a varied demographic that listened to my show.

And that's why I contacted people from different ends of the academic and medical spectrum and

people in between as well. And so this month, it's with Professor Sophie Scott, CBE.

Sophie is a neuroscientist working at UCL University College London.

She's a fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences,

has presented the Royal Institution's Christmas Lectures.

She's been on multiple TV and radio programs over the years,

talking about the neuroscience of communication,

and in particular, laughter.

She loves otters, the theatre, and people in outrageous trousers.

And last week, she was listed in the Queen's birthday honours and is now a CBE.

We spoke about the good and bad of evolutionary psychology, functional water anisotropy, brain plasticity,

and how to make bad jokes funnier.

She is both very clever and very down to earth at the same time.

You'll absolutely love her.
