Hi, everyone. There are a couple of times, probably a week, that I get a call from someone who says that they feel like they have been mistreated or abused or controlled or manipulated by someone who they went to for help.

0:55.9

I'm talking specifically about people who have gone to coaches, to people who call themselves

1:03.3

healers, to also licensed professionals who are therapists, social workers, sometimes even psychiatrists. And it's very

1:15.8

worrisome to me. What's equally worrisome to me is how few safeguards there are. And I think

2:10.2

the door, but the person still feels that they can never leave this situation. Very similar

2:15.2

to being in a controlling organization or in a controlling relationship

2:20.5

where people are asked, well, why did you stay? And there are so many reasons that people stay.

2:25.5

But especially if you're finally going to someone who says that they can help you, or you've

2:30.7

gotten the confidence or the nerve to be able to reach out for help and get some help

2:35.5

finally with something that's been bothering you. There are times that it is really buyer beware

2:41.1

and you really need to do your research and there's some very important things to watch out for.
