Summary

Today, Newscast joined forces with Americast for an episode live from the Edinburgh fringe recorded at the Edinburgh Fringe in front of a live audience.

They were joined by friend of the Newscast James Cook to discuss all things Trump. They chat about what it’s like being part of the President’s press pack, why Sydney Sweeney’s jeans are so controversial, plus what last week’s Truth Social posts about nuclear submarines were all about.

Hello, it's Sarah here, and I've got to explain myself. I'm in Edinburgh, where I'm having a

0:05.8

wee holiday, enjoying some fringe and festival shows, and I ended up on newscast, because they're

0:10.8

appearing at the Edinburgh fringe. And we ended up talking a huge amount about America and

0:15.5

American politics with Adams. So we thought we'd drop this into your AmeriCast feed,

0:20.3

seeing as it's got lots of bonus

0:21.6

America content, even though I'm feeling a bit guilty because I'm not on AmeriCast this week,

0:26.3

but somehow I'm on Newscast. Anyway, hope you enjoy.

Hello, from the Edinburgh Fringe, and hello to the newscasters who've come to see us in the Edinburgh Fringe.

0:39.3

Hello.

0:44.3

So just a reminder that this week's newscast is going to sound a little bit different because, yeah, we are in a sort of theatrical venue.

0:50.1

We are at the Edinburgh Fringe.

0:51.3

I've got one of these handheld microphones that sounds a bit kind of echoy.

0:54.6

And yeah, we've got a very enthusiastic audience with us.

0:58.1

I've just realized who else is going to be on this stage at various points during the Fringe for the next month.

1:03.8

Any Smack the Pony fans here?

1:07.2

Yes, a few.

1:08.4

That's a very famous 90s and naughties sketch show. They're doing a reunion show

1:13.5

here in a few weeks' time where they're going to be interviewed by Kirsty Wark. So that's quite

1:18.0

good. Yes, oh, Kirsty Wark's more famous than Smack the Pony. Let's not tell them. I'll leave them

a little note backstage. Who else is here? Oh, Kieran Hodgson from Two Doors Down. He's doing a show. Does everyone love Two Doors Down? It's interesting. A lot of my English friends have never heard of it. And if you're listening to this and thinking, what is he talking about? Two Doors Down is a Scottish sitcom about some people living in a cul-de-sac. Apparently it's in Lensie. Does anyone know where Lensie is? Yeah. And yeah, I love it. It's very, very funny. And actually, you don't have to be Scottish to get the jokes. So Kieran's going to be here. And then, best of all, who remembers Michelle McManus from Pop Idol? Early days of Pop Idol. That was just when I started my career as a journalist actually on News Round. Michelle McManus was a big story for us. She's going to be here in a few weeks doing a show on this very stage. So I'm delighted to be sharing a stage, not necessarily right now, but through the next... I've really mucked that up, haven't I? Because I'm not sharing the stage.

It's like a sort of time travel, multiverse thing, isn't it?
