Again, I hate taking breaks with you guys in between a series, but I don't get to make the rules. And it was just my birthday and it was just my son's birthday and my other son's birthday.

And we have Christmas coming up. It's going to be a whole thing. I'm going to take a break.

So enjoy this with me. It's new to you and it's new to me. All right. This first one is from Lindsay. It says, I'm a mom to a girl, and I try to balance teaching her to enjoy life and protect herself. What are some important lessons slash conversations

you have with your daughter to educate her on how dangerous the world is without scaring this

shit out of her? Love this question. I think my best answer here is that we're really honest with our kids.

We obviously childproof our conversations to an extent, but we want our kids to have a decent

understanding of what's going on in the world. We encourage them to research when they have

questions, but we also answer things really honestly

because we don't want the real world to just crumble them when they get out there. I don't want to

shelter them so much or kid glove them so much that when reality hits, they're totally lost.

So if, say, a kid is bullying one of my kids, like we have a conversation, like, look, honey, they're probably miserable and they're an asshole, all right?

That's it.

They're a dick and they're miserable.

So, kudos to you for not being a bully because you're not a dick and miserable.

And we do that because we want them to, one, understand that sometimes you're going to run into miserable

dicks in your life and just call it what it is. They suck, but it doesn't mean that you need to stoop to their

level. We could just make up some asshole excuse or try and solve the problem for them. And obviously,

we do get involved if necessary. But I want them to just have this understanding that, look, sometimes people suck. And this is how you deal with people who suck. As for having a daughter and living in a world that can be pretty dangerous, we are really honest with her. So, good example, is over the summer, we had a guy show up to our pool who was allegedly

taking photos of girls who were in their bathing suits. It became this huge thing. And while I

wouldn't want my daughter to walk around terrified, I also want her to understand that there are dangers around.
