Summary

Bonus Episode: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John all have accounts of the life of Christ, including the final events leading to the cross. This episode covers Luke 22, with significant marks throughout the chapter. Did you remember that one of the reasons why the disciples fell asleep when they were supposed to be praying was because of sorrow?  Or do you remember reading about the blindfold? Yes, cruel men blindfolded Jesus for sport and then beat Him in the face while saying, "Prophesy, who is it that smote thee?" And this was only the beginning. Reading through the four gospels shows us glimpses of the real lives of those who walked closely with Jesus, even though at times it seems they took it for granted. So human. So like us. Why did Jesus come to such a wicked place? "For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost." (Luke 19:10) He was born to die, that we might live.  More About Why Jesus Died Bible Study: ICU-In Christ Unconditionally-Old Testament Leader Guide Bible Study: ICU-In Christ Unconditionally-Old Testament Participant Guide Visit the Shop at Keep the Heart Follow Keep the Heart on Instagram Like Keep the Heart on Facebook Francie on Facebook

Hi, I'm your host, Francie Taylor from Keep the Heart, and we're doing something a little different

0:04.7

here today because it's leading up to Resurrection Sunday. I wonder if you have the same

0:10.2

habit that I have of reading through the Gospels and looking at the accounts, not only of the

0:16.2

death, burial, and resurrection of Christ, but even the events leading up to it. Today's episode,

0:22.1

we're going to look at Luke chapter 22, and it's got an amazing 71 verses. I'm going to read

0:28.8

through this chapter, but I'm also going to make commentary throughout. There are some things

0:33.3

we don't want to miss.

Now back to today's valuable study.

1:00.8

I'm going to go through the verses starting at Luke 22, verse 1, and every now and then I'm

1:05.8

going to pause and just make some commentary about the passages. Luke chapter 22 starting at verse one.

1:12.9

Now the feast of unleavened bread drew nigh, which is called the Passover, and the chief

1:18.1

priests and scribes sought how they might kill him, for they feared the people. Then entered Satan

1:24.4

into Judas, surnamed Ascariot, being of the number of the 12.

1:29.3

And he went his way and communed with the chief priests and captains how he might betray him

1:35.0

unto them. And they were glad and covenanted to give him money. And he promised and sought

1:41.4

opportunity to betray him unto them in the absence of the multitude.

1:46.7

Now here's where we have Judas setting Jesus up. But before Judas did this, it's so significant that

1:53.8

we not miss verse 3 where it says, then entered Satan into Judas. Judas was wide open and unguarded. Judas may have been a follower but not a

2:05.3

believer. I can never think about Judas without wondering about his parents. All people come from

2:12.8

somebody. A person can have a fantastic upbringing and still turn their back on God because they don't know the value of what they have.
