Last week, a few days before we were to wrap up, I got a phone call from a woman we've

0:05.6

given the pseudonym Jane. She was ready to speak. We ran some of that interview in the

0:10.4

previous episode. We've decided to run it in full, lightly edited this week. It's

0:16.0

a departure from our usual format. Her insights into Hamish and her insights into herself are

0:22.3

wise beyond her years. She is able to articulate in vivid detail what happens when you come

1:21.2

1:26.4

1:33.2

You did it like your sisters were ill. Can you explain that?

1:37.1

Of course. I'm the eldest of six. My sister Harriet passed away at 15, so that was in 2013.

1:47.6

Of course, her medical condition growing up placed great strain on my parents and her siblings.

1:57.3

But that was part and parcel with every day light. We were used to that being in and out of hospital.

2:05.2

She was palliative care, so 24-7 care.
