As many of you know, we have just completed a series on Buffalo

Bill Cody and his Wild West shows. Now, to be honest with you, this series genuinely surprised me.

I came in knowing that Buffalo Bill was a bit of a myth maker and that his Wild West show

propagated a number of historical myths about the American West.

But his life story blew my mind.

Here's why.

He presented himself as a certain type of American archetype, the bold frontiersman who was bringing

civilization to the West and then, by extension, brought the Wild West back towards civilization.
