0:33.3

My name is Wendy, and I'm joined by someone I've been wanting to interview for the best part of five years now.

0:39.0

Historian, writer, tweeter, new dad, podcaster and Spurs fan.

0:44.2

Lovely Greg Jenner. Hello, Greg.

0:45.8

Hello, how you doing?

0:46.8

It's so good to speak to you. We've been trying to set this up for a while and obviously you've been incredibly busy with a whole load of projects over the past few years, which we're going to

0:55.3

touch on all of them, I think. But to start off with, I mean, let's talk about your podcast,

0:59.6

because that's the new big thing for you. You're dead to me. What's it about? How does it work?

1:04.2

How does you get into it? Yeah, I love the way you just said, you're dead to me. It just,

1:08.3

the funniest thing about it is the name of the show sounds like a sort of like an insult yeah exactly whenever i tweet people saying you're dead to me it just

1:15.9

looked like i'm just forever binning them off but um uh the show uh actually has been two years in the making

1:23.4

it's it's it's really one of those ones where you have an idea and you kind of look around and you're

1:28.5

going, how does this work then podcasting? And it just took a long, long time to get off the ground and

1:33.3

we were going to do it independently, which obviously is how most podcasts are done. And then I was making

1:37.4

a documentary for the BBC about history and comedy, which was a really fun documentary, a big three-hour

1:42.4

thing. I was interviewing Stephen Fry and people like that. And I just mentioned it to my producer and she said, oh, you know, I sit next

1:48.0

of the head of podcasts at BBC Radio 4. And it just was one of those sort of, you know, right place,

1:53.8

right time, a little moment in the year. But the idea they really liked it and they let us do a couple of pilots. Those went really well.

2:01.6

We tweaked the format and then we went off and made 15 of them.

2:04.6

So it's been two years in production and finally it's come out this week.

2:08.6

So it's been really exciting.
