Summary

Series 2 returns on the 24th August with the brilliant, Alan Carr. But before that I wanted to use this pre-season bonus episode to shine a spotlight on a fantastic charity - akt.org.uk. akt is a voluntary organisation based in England, created in 1989 to serve lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender young people who are homeless or living in a hostile environment. It started in Greater Manchester in 1989 and opened in London in 1996, and expanded to Newcastle in 2013In this episode I speak to Chief Executive, Tim Sigsworth MBE about the charity and his personal journey. And I also speak to a young LGBTQ community member who has benefited from the help of the charity and now acts as a trustee, Faz Bukhari. I loved hearing their stories and the work the organisation does and hope you do too. Thanks - Suzi. xxPlease subscribe and leave a review. And if you want to get in touch with me on the show, here's how...email: [email protected]: @outwithsuzi A 'Keep It Light Media' ProductionEnquiries: [email protected] Learn more about your ad choices. but today we're highlighting a charity.

0:32.2

It's AKT, formerly known as the Albert Kennedy Trust. And I have always

0:36.9

been so inspired by the brilliant work they do. I thought it would be great to have a

0:41.2

conversation to Tim Seagsworth who is at the head of

0:46.5

AKT, the chief executive and we're also speaking to FAS who is someone who has used their services.

0:53.4

I thoroughly enjoyed this conversation.

0:56.0

I think that the work they do is just brilliant, and if you haven't heard of them,

1:00.5

I am delighted to introduce you to them today. I am delighted to introduce you to them today.

1:05.0

So today I've got a different episode. Actually the first episode of this sort

1:09.5

and we're hoping to do lots more where we highlight rather than a specific person a charity and I'm very

1:15.2

excited to talk about this charity today I've supported this charity for a long time I think the

1:19.0

work they do is amazing and it's really lovely that we're going to highlight it on the podcast.

1:24.0

It's AKT or formerly known as the Albert Kennedy Trust.

1:27.0

And they support LGBTQ plus young people aged between 16 and 25 who are in the UK and are facing or experiencing homelessness or living in a hostile situation.

1:37.0

So they do lots of incredible work about making sure people are in safe homes, they help them find employment, education,

1:43.4

training and they sort of save people when they're in a bit of a crisis, to be honest.

1:47.5

And I'm delighted to say that joining me, we've got Tim Sigsworth, MBE, no less, who is the chief executive of AKT.
