Hi everyone on this special bonus episode of the evidence-based birth podcast I'm going to talk about the writing of my book

Babies are not pizzas that's coming out this August and talk about how I went on a book retreat

to finish writing the draft. So in the middle of February this year I was so close to finishing the book

Babies Are Not Pizza's, but I still had about two and a half chapters left to right and I was really struggling

because life was just really crazy and chaotic and I just knew that I just

needed like three days where I could just not be interrupted and finish writing.

So I talked with my husband Dan about it about how I just needed this time and

it's hard to get uninterrupted time when you have three children.

My son Henry is sitting in my lap right now,

And as much as I absolutely love being with my children,

writing a book takes a lot of mental focus and I was worried

that it would take me months and months to finish writing if I didn't just go

somewhere and like I told Dan I was like I just need to lock myself up somewhere

and right but I didn't want to lock myself up like I don't know somewhere

really non-inspational and cold and it was February. So I basically looked at our airline

miles which we get a lot of miles from traveling for work and realized I did have

enough miles to fly to Florida to the town where my best friend

Sarah lives who we grew up together we went to college together and we've been best friends all

these years.

So I went ahead and after you know got you know Dan and I decided it was okay for me to be gone for three days the kids schedule
