Hey fam, if we're honest, reading the Bible consistently can be a challenge. But it's never too

0:08.0

late to start, and we're in this together. Thanks for journeying with us. And here's your host, Emma

daughter. Thanks for joining. Pretty soon, we're going to start reading the book of First

0:18.0

Timothy. First Timothy, though it is a Pauline epistle,

0:21.7

it's also a pastoral epistle. And when you think about a pastoral epistle, it's helpful to think

0:27.1

about an older pastor writing to the next generation of church leaders, or more specifically,

0:32.2

the next generation of young pastors. And there are three pastoral epistles, First Timothy, Second Timothy, and Titus.

late teens or early 20s, which I actually find incredibly encouraging. Our society's expectations of

1:18.5

teenagers are pretty low. But Timothy, I mean, imagine a junior or senior in high school being so

1:24.7

well respected for his faith that all the church leaders feel great or felt

1:28.6

great about him moving out early and going into full-time mission work.

1:32.3

That's basically what Timothy did.

1:33.8

And eventually, Timothy became someone Paul would send out to visit churches, like we see in

1:38.6

1st Corinthians 4 and in Philippians 219.

1:41.8

And ultimately, as we read in 1st Timothy 1, verse 3, he later became a pastor in

1:47.2

Ephesus. Oftentimes, 1 Timothy is typically thought of as a book for young leaders, when in reality,
