Hello everybody welcome to the Sharpen podcast. I have here with me Mr.

Christian Beckwith who is in my eyes a freaking badass guy and he is the host and

creator of the 90 pound rock sack podcast which is one of my three all-time favorite podcasts.

So of course I had to beg and plead

for him to be on the Sharpen Podcast

so he can share a little bit about what he does to you all so welcome to the show Christian if you

don't mind introducing yourself to my listeners.

If I recall you didn't have to beg or plead, I'm happy to be here in honor actually.

Since you've been in the industry a hell of a lot longer than I am.

But yeah, so my name's Christian Christian I live in Jackson, Wyoming, I've been here about 30 years, moved here to

climb and it's actually kind of a wretched place to climb since it's those for, well it's snowing right now and it started in November and it hasn't stopped.

And when I got here, I was sort of shocked to find that there wasn't a climbing anything. It wasn't a climbing entity and organization.

So I started one in 1994 the year after I got here called the Wayward Mountaineers and that kind of everything took off from there. I started my first magazine called the Mountain Yodle and it was just an attempt to try to capture the amazing photography and the writing and the art of the climbers of Jackson Hole.

And then as these things happen in crazy ways,

Ivan Shannard, who I found in the phone book, called up and said, hey, I'm going to start a magazine.

You Cole called him?

I called.

That's so bad ass.

He was probably, well I was too stupid to know that you weren't supposed to do that.
