literally just going to read an email to you that I received, that I didn't want to lump in with

my Q&A bonus episodes that I do because it's super long and I think it needed its own attention.

And it very much speaks for itself. So I'm just going to read it.

Dear Suzanne, I'm typically not one to reach out to a show host or publication, but I feel

compelled to share my story and how much your show has impacted me.

I originally stumbled upon your work when I saw your interview with Alex Clark about daycare pop up in my YouTube suggested feed,

and I'm thankful the targeted algorithm actually worked for once.

Since then, I have listened to probably 50 episodes of your podcast and counting.

What a gem.

I am writing to you primarily because I see my experience as a highly educated career-driven

woman with her own highly educated, career-driven mother, as a cautionary tale for those who think they can do it all, and on their own timeline,

with no major consequences for either themselves or their children.

I hope that this letter brings you encouragement to keep speaking the truth as you are helping so many.

My mom came from a broken and abusive immigrant family, so her mother placed strong emphasis

on education as a way of getting out of that life. Not only was my mom the first in her family

to be educated past the sixth grade, but she also achieved her medical degree from a prestigious

institution. This was extremely rare back in the 70s and 80s,

and at the time she was one of the only handful of women in her graduating class.

She worked in the same hospital for her entire career in the group of nearly 30 men,

and depending on the year, only one to three other women.
