We're coming to the end of our first full month of COVID-19 lockdown, and while the news

in much of the country is more encouraging, we still have a long way to go before we're out of the woods. I could certainly use a laugh and today

we'll have an hour's worth of smiles courtesy of two of comedy's funniest partnerships.

First we'll hear Bud Abbott and Lou Costello in an episode of the Abbott and Costello show.

It originally aired on NBC on February 27th, 1947.

The vaudeville stars came to radio in their own series as a replacement for Fred Allen in the summer

of 1940. When they returned to their own show in 1942, Bud and

Lou had become box office sensations on the heels of their Universal

Comedy Pictures, like Buck Privates and in the Navy. of their

radio show Abbott and in the Navy. On their radio show Abbott and Costello presented some of their classic stage routines

including the iconic Who's On first, along with sitcom plots focused on

get-rich quick schemes or Costello's misguided efforts to land dates with

beautiful women.

In the episode we'll hear today, the boys perform their famous You Drive bit.
