Summary

Costi Hinn had a personal grievance against Michael O’Fallon ( @Sovereign Nations ) Instead of just addressing O’Fallon, Costi chose to wage a Twitter war on the few guys in Evangelicalism who actually have spines (such as Doug Wilson ( @Canon Press ).

Costi has been a hero in fighting one dragon (the prosperity gospel), but over the past few years he has sat on the sidelines with this current dragon (social justice/civil tyranny). The problem is that going hard in the paint against the prosperity gospel (which truly damns souls to hell) doesn’t get you banned from social media. It doesn’t cost you your job. It doesn’t make you an enemy of the state. Nancy Pelosi doesn’t care about Reformed churches calling out Benny Hinn and Hillsong. In other words, it’s not nearly as costly. Costi sat out of the harder fight. The guys who had the guts to go to war against this current dragon are now receiving some of their due praise. Costi would rather critique their sword fighting techniques (such as criticizing Doug Wilson’s rhetoric) than thank them for seeing/fighting an enemy which Costi ignored.

All that said, it’s vital to mention that Costi Hinn didn’t just memory-hole his mistake, he actually apologized for it. In other words, Costi did something Big Eva would never do. He repented.

I sincerely hope it stays that way.

Hey guys, real quick, before we get started, I have a small request. If you've been blessed by our

0:04.5

content and you like this show, would you take just a brief moment and leave us a five-star review?

0:09.7

This is quite possibly the most effective thing that you can do to ensure that this content

0:14.6

gets out to as many people as possible. Thanks. All right, welcome back to another live Q&A on Mondays at 12 p.m. Central

0:23.0

Time. Live Q&A with myself, Pastor Joel Webbin, host of right response ministries.

0:28.7

About, it seems like every other one of these at this point is a Q&A, the entire thing,

0:36.2

taking questions from you guys. And then it seems like the other

0:38.8

half of the time, there's some kind of topic that I feel strongly needs to be discussed, whether

0:46.5

it's something that you're interested in or not. It's something that I feel like needs to be

0:51.0

discussed. Today is one of those days, although I am going to get to some questions at the end. But what I want to discuss is the recent kerfuffle, if you want to use that

1:01.4

term with Costi Hinn on Twitter, as well as his podcast, which is called For the Gospel, for the

1:08.6

gospel. So Costi Hinn, if you're not familiar with him, he has launched

1:12.9

into the stratosphere over the last few years within evangelical Christianity, particularly

1:18.2

within the Reformed camp, Calvinistic, gospel-centered camp. And a lot of that has to do with

1:25.7

his gifting and his heart for the Lord and his character. And a lot of it that has to do with his gifting and his heart for the Lord and his character.

1:29.0

And a lot of it also has to do with his last name.

1:32.6

He is the nephew of the notorious faith healer, Word of Faith healer, Binnie Hinn.

1:39.8

And so Kosti kind of came out of the Word of Faith movement and the heretical doctrines of his uncle began to shed light on the false teaching of the prosperity gospel, began to go on other people's podcasts, eventually got into vocational ministry in a supportive pastor role.

1:58.2

He is now church planting, I believe, in the state of Arizona,

2:01.8

as a teaching pastor, a lead pastor, and the church there is growing by leaps and bounds.

2:08.2

He's had speaking engagements all over, including at Grace Community Church,

2:13.0

where John MacArthur pastors in Southern California. And so Costi Hinn has been kind of a rising star.
