Hi everyone I'm Allison Sandy. I'm Brian Seymour and I'm Sally Leiden.

Welcome to episode 19 of Conversations and this is a wonderful conversations. A lot of people say

we're a bit negative sometimes with our conversations but this one is a very

positive one Sally you might be the best person to tell it well everyone would know

the news now tell us Sally yes say it again well we got it in writing that we are going to inquest. Which is a great

achievement and just obviously it means that we will finally get a conclusion and

those of you who have listened to the episode already will see just what this

will mean.

Yeah look we've been saying for a while because they have been telling me that it's

potentially going to inquest and throwing around some dates and obviously basing it on brief

of evidence coming from the homicide squad.

However, I have been in contact with the Crown

solicitors who are representing legally for the coroner at Inquest and they have sent me a letter stating that we are going

to Inquest and it can now be made public. Yeah, and let me just jump in just to impress upon everyone listening in Australia and around the world how big this is.

There's a couple of things.

A coronial inquest is basically like a court trial presided over by the coroner

who acts as the judge with all the powers of a court and it is the I guess the strongest instrument the state has to investigate the

disappearance and suspected death of a person and right from the outset and we'll talk about that. It was the goal of Sally,

Allison, myself and the team to get to this stage where we could have an

inquest because when we started, Marion Barta officially wasn't missing.

The police had told Sally and her family that they had made contact with Marion

and had decided to walk away from her life, which turned out to be totally untrue. She was missing, she has
