I thought it was going to be a good idea to bring in Jason Whitlock as a partner. It has turned out to be a great idea. We are two full weeks into the partnership beginning week number three.

0:38.1

Thanks for coming on with us as you have the last two weeks on Monday as well Jason Whitlock but to you has this been as much fun and gone as well as you had hoped also.

0:51.1

Yeah, I think it's probably gone better than I anticipated. You know, it's been phenomenal. I like the response across the country.

1:03.1

The response from sports fans, non sports fans, the reach that we've been able to establish without kick has kind of blown me away. I didn't think we could have that kind of reach this early in the process.

1:22.1

But we certainly have. And so yeah, I've been blown away.

1:27.1

You've written a ton of columns and we're work through them. I got several different topics that I want to hit you with. But let's start with the bubble wallets piece because you came on the last week at this time and the news had just come out late Sunday night about the NASCAR investigation.

1:45.1

That was the number one story for the entire week now that all the facts are out that everything has been discussed that that entire story has been dissected.

1:55.1

What would you say is your biggest takeaway a week later? Let me say for everybody out there listening. One of the big takeaways is wait for the facts because you came on Monday.

2:05.1

We talked about it. We said, Hey, let's wait and see. We didn't you know, try to create a huge scene by reacting to something until we knew exactly what had happened.

2:13.1

The story should be, Hey, let's wait till everything's out there. Do you think it will be going forward or do you think people will continue to react before they know the facts?

2:25.1

People are always going to react before they know the facts that who we are that where we're at with the media right now, that's where social media has taken us.

2:41.1

I don't think we've learned any lesson because I think people are so fearful of being late to something and particularly something where they can point out to everybody, look how perfect I am, look how non-racist I am.

3:02.1

It's just too important in this social media era to be first with that and to throw away any journalistic pretense. That's the new standard. We don't look as a journalist, you're taught that in the last week you're taught.

3:20.1

If your mom says she loves you, get a second opinion and that's not what we do now in journalism. We don't, hell, I don't know if we get a first opinion or we just go with whatever narrative is out there, whatever's going to make that popular on social media is really sad. I think it's hurting our democracy. It's tearing our country apart.

3:44.1

When you look at the way that the Bubble Wallace story played out and everything else surrounding it, we asked the question who looked towards sports media NASCAR or Bubble Wallace and his team.

3:59.1

Who do you think ultimately bears the brunt of that story in the minds of the larger community, which one has the longest lasting negativity associated with it?

4:10.1

Sports media NASCAR or Bubble Wallace and his team, how would you assess?

4:15.1

I would go sports media because again, it's our job to be objective observers. Look, Bubble Wallace NASCAR, they have a major financial interest in the promotion of Bubble Wallace, the promotion of NASCAR.

4:35.1

It's almost like I kind of get where above a NASCAR coming from, I just don't understand the media. I think the media is going to take the most damage here and deliberately so.

4:51.1

All right, let's go into a couple of your other columns. And by the way, I'd encourage you to go read outkick.com, Jason Whitlocks columns there. Read outkick.com, make it your bookmark.
