You do not have to be a member to hear this bonus episode.

And the reason is very simple.

I am working on an episode about democratic socialism and the whole debate and discussion

about socialism in America.

Obviously Bernie Sanders has been the the forerunner on this conversation.

His run in 2016, although many would have denied it at the time, has clearly almost single

handedly shaped the democratic primary campaign now in 2019 and 2020.

So it seems worthwhile to pay attention when Bernie Sanders talks about his philosophy,

that drives his campaign and his politics because his politics are having an enormous

influence on the conversation happening in the rest of the country, not just in his

campaign.

So not too long ago Bernie Sanders gave a major address, sort of laying out his case for

what he describes as democratic socialism.

And I'm working on an episode that will sort of take that as a jumping off point and

then go in a lot of different directions and analyze socialism and democratic socialism

and Bernie Sanders and the rest of the leftward movement sort of surrounding it.

And I thought to myself, I just cannot come up with a good reason to not play the speech

in its entirety as bonus episode.

Since we're going to be talking about the speech and what's come from it, I thought I should

make it as easy as possible for anyone who wants to hear the speech to be able to hear

it.
