Burst of Empire is a project that's very close to your heart. How did it come to be? What were your very first inspirations to tell this story? Well,

growing up, I was a huge fan of fantasy and speculative fiction, and I'm Chinese American,

and I don't think a lot of people realize how kind of corrosive it can be

to not be able to locate yourself

within the major mythologies of your culture.

Growing up, I never really saw a lot of representations

of anybody who looked like me as a hero.

You know, so if we want to go way, way back, original wound style, I was talking about

healing that wound or doing our part.
