where this week we'll hear a pair of shows starring one of the funniest

couples of the radio era Phil Harris and Alice Faye. The body bandleader of the

Jack Benny program and the beautiful screen star were married both on and off the air.

Their fictionalized home life turned into one of radio's best sitcoms, a show appropriately

titled the Phil Harris Alice Fay Show. We're two episodes from the

series today beginning with a season premiere originally

aired on NBC on September 30th 1951. For the new season the show is moving from

4.30 to 5 p.m. and Phil's band is furious

concerned that the gig is going to cut into their drinking time.

Then in a show from May 17th, 1953, Phil is facing some tough

demands from his 10-year-old daughter, including a mink coat and a new swimming pool.

The series cast includes Janine Rousse and Ann Whitfield,

as daughters Alice and Phyllis,
