Hello, Dreamers, and welcome back to the show. This is the long-awaited interview with

Attorney Bob Mata. Back in July, over the course of four episodes, we cover the case of

Native Californian, former doctor and current death row inmate in the state of Nebraska,

Anthony Garcia. These were episodes 189 through 192. Bob was Garcia's defense attorney,

and I became acquainted with him through social media. Not necessarily because of this case,

but because he happened to decide earlier this year to try his hand at podcasting. And he

came into it all with something completely unique to him. His dad represented one of the

most notorious serial killers in American history, John Wayne Gacy. When Bob was 21, his

father gifted him a set of cassette tapes, which he basically shoved into his closet for

a couple of decades. And it wasn't until the advent of the podcast did he finally have

some good use for these tapes, which are interviews between his father and Gacy himself.

And it has been brought to us in the form of his show called The Fence Diaries. And the

plan is when he's wrapped with a Gacy season or seasons, he is going to bring you his

side of the Anthony Garcia quadruple murder case. If you listen to my series about it,

which by the way are some of the most downloaded episodes this year, you may have come away

thinking that Garcia is guilty is all get out. And full disclosure, I do still think he's

guilty, but Bob would say to any of us not so fast, hold your opinions until you hear his

side of the story. And you'll get a little bit about it in this interview. You'll hear

some of his arguments in favor of his innocence. But he's of course going to save the good

stuff for his own show. So I recorded this interview over zoom. Bob comes across a little
