Welcome to the first bonus episode for Sleep with Nature Sounds.

In these bonus episodes, I will just casually be sharing things like behind-the-scenes stories, recording tips, listener feedback, or just some other information.

Today's bonus episode is a behind-the-scenes look at the nature sound I recorded, which I called

This story that I'm going to tell you about includes how I had to alter nature just a little bit

to improve the sound.

And I'm also going to tell you about a run-in I had with some authorities while I was

recording this sound.

The sound was recorded in Shenandoah National Park,

which is located in Virginia in the United States.

I drove to the park, and I went searching for a place which I thought would be good for recording sounds.

And I'll probably do a future bonus episode on how do you select the site that's good for recording sounds.

Because what I've discovered is you just can't go anywhere that seems like a good place

and think you'll get some good sounds. There's some some tricks, you know, and a basic one is

you just want to make sure it's a good distance from any roads.

So I found a spot in Shenandoah National Park, which looked like it was going to be a good place for getting some recordings.

And I parked and the trail I was on was labeled on the map as a fire trail. So here's what you want to imagine that it's about the width of a vehicle.

So whether it's a car or a small

truck. It's mostly grass and it has some tire tracks worn into it or some dirt where vehicles

drive occasionally. For the most part it feels very much like a nature trail
