Summary

I’ve been trying to read books about AI lately to get a firmer grasp on this important topic, and the best book I’ve read for both a basic grounding of the history and the state of play of AI, but also looking at potential frameworks for the technology, both ethically and socially is A Human Algorithm: How Artificial Intelligence is Redefining Who We Are by Flynn Coleman. I've been trying to read books lately about AI to get a firmer grasp on this obviously important topic.

0:17.8

And the best book I've read for both a basic grounding of the history and the state of play of

0:22.1

AI, but also for looking at potential

0:24.6

frameworks for the technology, both ethically and socially, is a human algorithm, how

0:30.3

artificial intelligence is redefining who we are by Flynn Coleman.

We're going to talk to Flynn today.

0:37.0

Please enjoy this great discussion about a topic that I'm still wrapping my head around.

1:41.1

happening is we've always had new technology and tools, but we've often had more time to

1:46.4

assimilate to these new tools and technologies, and now it's advancing so rapidly that human beings aren't going to get that much time to

1:55.3

assimilate.

1:56.3

So we really have a lot of questions we need to be thinking about and conversations we need

2:01.4

to be having on a societal level if we don't want this to get away from us

2:06.0

and if we want to make decisions that are not just about building better and smarter tools,

2:10.8

but how we can use them to make the world a better place.
