As most of you know, Love Letters is also an advice column, and when I'm sick of myself

and want to read somebody else's advice, for wisdom, humor, empathy, I find myself turning

to Ola Poppy, the advice column by John Paul Brammer.

JP Brammer recently wrote a book about his life and his life as an advice columnist.

It's called Ola Poppy, how to come out in a Walmart parking lot and other life lessons.

It is a perfect title.

A while back, I was honored to moderate his book launch with Brookline Booksmith, one of

my favorite Boston area bookstores.
