In this final season, I explore how the Jews and the Christians constructed new religions when they were

sent spinning into the void after the destruction of the temple. All of the history, about all of the books beyond the Bible.

In this bonus episode, Steve Guerra of the history of the papacy podcast and I look at some of our favorite moments in the Old Testament, or Tanakh.

Now we're going to really jump into this, Gary and Steve's top moments of the Old Testament. And it's

really hard to get it down. We really tried hard to get it down to five items, five moments apiece.

And that was not an easy thing. So I think really we could do this several more times and get many more moments.

But so what you can look forward today is that Gary and I are going to share each of our moments.

Some of them complement each other.

Some of them will go in slightly different directions.

We will take turns.

So these won't be in any particular order.

And I'm going to kick off, kick us off today with

Genesis 1418. And I'll read just a little bit of this. So this is a quote, and I used mostly the new

King James version. And that really won't matter for some of the quotes that we share, but some of them will

some differences in translation will make some very interesting differences, but that'll be a

little bit later down the line. So I quote, then Melhezadac, king of Salem, brought out bread and

wine. He was the priest of God most high, and he blessed

him and said, Blessed be Abraham of God most high, possessor of heaven and earth, and blessed be God

most high, who delivered your enemies into your hand. So my question is, who is Melhizadec? His name means

righteous king or my God Zedek righteousness, my king righteousness, or something like that. And the
