Vice President Richard M. Nixon. He was Eisenhower's vice president and was one of the

most active vice presidents in American history. He often traveled around the world,

surveys Ike's troubleshooters, so to speak. He was also a strong anti-communist and what we

would call a cold warrior. The Democrats, on the other hand, nominated Senator John F. Kennedy.
