Hi everyone Simon and Brian here welcoming you to this very special bonus episode to mark the 10th anniversary of the soda jerker on songwriting podcast.

Ten years, holy smokes, it can't be.

Oh it can, old friend, it can.

Exactly a decade ago on the 9th of November 2011,

we dropped our very first episode

featuring pop writer Par Exelance, Billy Steinberg and thus embarking on what's been quite a remarkable journey.

I must say we'd be liars if we claimed to have had any specific goals or ambitions when we started this thing, you know beyond just

chatting to some songwriters we admired and getting our name out there. We just followed our

noses basically didn't we? We did and now here we are 10 years and 215 episodes later.

Bly me. We could never have imagined some of the amazing experiences we've had in the

legends we've come face-to-face with, nor that the show would touch so many people around the world

and become part of their lives as well.

Yeah and that they'd listen on their way to work while out jogging, decorating, doing the housework,

making love. Okay, maybe not the last one we never know it takes all sorts

that's true I imagine our dulcetones are quite the aphrodisiac for some

they're only human, Brian.

It also never cared to us in a million years that the show would prove so inspirational to

songwriters of all ages, you know, from the absolute beginners to the grizzled veterans but judging by the lovely correspondence we received that it seemed to be the case

It's very gratifying isn't it right mhm. Obviously we couldn't possibly have made it this far without all of you lovely people listening and donating as well.

So we thank each and every one of you sincerely for your continued loyalty and enthusiasm for what we're doing and all the encouragement you've given us over the years as well.

You guys are a massive reason why we've stuck at this for so long.
